López de Ayala, Pedro (1332–1407)

Spanish poet and historian, born at Vitoria. He became chancellor of Castile in 1399 and his chief work, the Crónicas de los reyes de Castilla, is a chronicle of his own period. He also published translations of Boccaccio, Boethius, Livy, and others.
