La Follette

City in northeastern Tennessee, 48 km/30 mi northwest of Knoxville, along the southeastern foot of Cumberland Mountain; population (1990) 7,200. A coalmining centre incorporated in 1897 along Big Creek, in the Powell Valley, it is now almost on the northwestern shore of Norris Lake.
