La Pampa

Department of central Argentina, bounded by the Río Colorado to the south, and characterized by the plains of the eastern pampas and salt marshes; population (1991) 260,000; area 143,400 sq km/55,367 sq mi; capital Santa Rosa. Cereal crops are grown and there is stock raising.

The driest areas so far this growing season continue to be central and northern Cordoba and Santa Fe, but new concerns about dryness are starting to appear in central and southern La Pampa as well as in southwestern Buenos Aires.
In addition to having supermarkets in the main cities in Patagonia, made up of the provinces of Neuquen, Rio Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego, La Anonima has opened in Cordoba, La Pampa and Buenos Aires province, too.
