Labori, Fernand Gustave Gaston

    0.04 sec.

Labori, Fernand Gustave Gaston (1860-1917)

French lawyer who defended the army officer Alfred Dreyfus at his retrial on the trumped-up charge of treason in 1899. Labori's skilful advocacy succeeded in winning Dreyfus a pardon, though he was not fully exonerated until 1906.

Labori was born in Reims and qualified as a barrister in 1884. As well as defending Dreyfus, he appeared in a number of other celebrated cases. He published the Répertoire encyclopédique du droit français.
