Lacroix, Christian Marie Marc (1951– )

French fashion designer. After working with Jean Patou 1981–87, he opened his couture business in 1987 and launched his ready-to-wear line the following year. He made headlines with his fantasy creations, including the short puffball skirt, rose prints, and low décolleté necklines. Lacroix uses experimental fabrics, sometimes handwoven by traditional rural and community workshops.
