Lake Jackson

Lake Jackson

City in southeastern Texas, on the Brazos River, 77 km/48 mi south of Houston; population (1990) 22,800. There are petrochemical and metalworking plants as well as fruit and dairy farms.

It was founded by the Dow Chemical Company in 1941 for defence plant workers. Brazosport College (1968) is here.
