Lake Mills

City in southeastern Wisconsin, on Rock Lake, 40 km/25 mi east of Madison; population (1990) 4,100. It is situated in an area of poultry and dairy farms and lakes, and is a popular summer resort. There is a large fish hatchery in the city. Dairy equipment, shoes, canned vegetables, and powdered milk are produced.

Lake Mills was settled about 1836. Aztalan State Park to the east, along the Crawfish River, contains remains of a prehistoric American Indian village; adjacent is the Aztalan Museum.
