    0.06 sec.

Lam, Wifredo (Wilfredo) (1902–1982)

Cuban painter. Influenced by Surrealism in the 1930s (he lived in Paris 1937–41), he created a semi-abstract style using mysterious and sometimes menacing images and symbols, mainly taken from Caribbean traditions. His Jungle series, for example, contains voodoo elements. He visited Haiti and Martinique in the 1940s, Paris in 1952, and also made frequent trips to Italy.
