Shaula

Second-brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius. It is a blue-white star of magnitude 1.6, found in 2006 to be some 365 light years from the Sun. Spectroscopic observations reveal it to be a multiple system: there is a close binary, consisting of two stars orbiting about each other with a period (the time they take to circle each other) of 5.6 days; and there appears to be a third star circling these two with a period of 1100 days.
