Lampeter

Market town in Ceredigion (Cardiganshire), central Wales, on the River Teifi; population (2001) 2,900. The name Pont Steffan is derived from an ancient stone bridge over the river. St David's University College, founded at Lampeter in 1822, is part of the University of Wales.
