Lanarkshire

Former county of southern Scotland, which was merged into six districts of Strathclyde region in 1975.

It was merged into the six districts of Clydesdale, Hamilton, Motherwell, Monklands, East Kilbride, and Cumbernauld and Kilsyth in 1975. Hamilton, East Kilbride, and Clydesdale are now part of South Lanarkshire, and Monklands, Motherwell, and Cumbernauld and Kilsyth are now part of North Lanarkshire.
