Landi, Stefano (c. 1586–1639)

Italian singer and composer. He was maestro di cappella in Padua about 1620 and in Rome from 1624, and sang alto in the papal chapel from 1630. His sacred opera Il Sant' Alessio (1631) was successfully revived in Rome and Innsbruck, Switzerland, in 1981 and in Los Angeles, USA, in 1988.
