Landry, Tom (1924-2000)

US American football player and coach. An outstanding defensive back with the National Football League's New York Giants, he was head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (1960-88), joining the Dallas set-up when it was first created. His teams featured a tricky, multiple offence and his personal creation, the flex defence. During his 29 seasons, the Cowboys won 18 division championships and appeared in five Super Bowls, winning two. Landry was born in Mission, Texas.
