Langport

Town in Somerset, England, on the River Parret; population (2001) 2,750. It was the scene of a Parliamentarian victory on 10 July 1644, in the English Civil War. Priest's House, Muchelney, 2.4 km/1.5 mi south of Langport, was acquired by public subscription in 1911.

Langport Beds is a local white, grey, or cream-coloured limestone rock, with marl (clayey limestone). About 7 km/4 mi north of Langport, near High Ham, is Turn Hill, from which there is a view over Sedgemoor to the Quantock Hills.
