Langston

Town in north-central Oklahoma, 58 km/36 mi northeast of Oklahoma City, near the Cimarron River; population (1990) 1,500. Founded in 1890 as an all-black town, it is the seat of Oklahoma's first black agricultural and mechanical college, Langston University (1897).
