Laramie

City in southeastern Wyoming, USA, on the Laramie Plains – a plateau 2,300 m/7,500 ft above sea level – bounded north and east by the Laramie Mountains, 65 km/40 mi northwest of Cheyenne; seat of Albany County; population (2000) 27,200. The Laramie River, on which it stands, is linked with the Missouri River via the Platte River. The city is the centre of a ranching and lumber-producing area; its products include cement and wood products.

Laramie is the seat of the University of Wyoming (1886).
