Larchmont

Community in Mamaroneck town, southeastern New York, 32 km/20 mi northeast of New York City, on Long Island Sound; population (1990) 6,200. It is an affluent suburb with many large homes and private clubs.

The Larchmont Yacht Club, founded in 1880 by Andrew Carnegie, J P Morgan, and William K Vanderbilt, holds an annual regatta.
