Largs

Town and resort in North Ayrshire unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the Firth of Clyde, 19 km/12 mi southwest of Greenock; population (2001) 11,250. A busy tourist centre, its services include sailing facilities and car ferries to the island of Great Cumbrae.

In 1263 a sea battle between Scotland and Norway was fought off the coast of Largs.
