Las Tunas

Province of eastern Cuba, bounded on the west by Camagüey province, and on the east by Holguín and Granma; area 6,589 sq km/2,544 sq mi; population (1989) 485,100. The main products are sugar, tobacco, corn, beans, maize, bananas, oranges, and chemicals; there is also some cattle-raising. The provincial capital is the city of Victoria de las Tunas; population (1994 est) 120,000.

CMW gets four flights per week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) from Miami via American Eagle, transporting 500 to 600 Cuban exiles weekly to visit their relatives in the central provinces of Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila, Camaguey and Las Tunas.
