Lastman, Pieter Pietersz. (1583–1633)| Dutch painter and engraver. He painted mainly religious and mythological subjects, his style strongly influenced by early baroque painting in Rome and also by Adam Elsheimer, especially in his rendering of light and atmosphere in landscape. His most famous pupil was Rembrandt, who in his early career copied Lastman's work. |
