Latham-Koenig, Jan (1953– )

English conductor. He studied at the Royal College of Music, London and founded the Koenig Ensemble in 1976. He conducted the Mahler symphonies at Montepulciano 1981–86 and Giulio Cesare at Stockholm in 1985. He made his English National Opera ensemble and Wexford debuts in 1987, with Tosca and La straniera and led the premieres of Bussotti's L'ispirazione and Fedra, at Florence and Rome in 1988. From 1990 he worked at the Montpellier Festival, conducting Graun's Montezuma, Magnard's Berenice, and Sacchini's Oedipe a Colone. His recordings include several stage works by Weill.
