Latin American Economic SystemInternational coordinating body for economic, technological, and scientific cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean, aiming to create and promote multinational enterprises in the region and provide markets. Founded in 1975 as the successor to the Latin American Economic Coordination Commission, its members include Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain (from 1979), Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
