Laubenthal, Horst (1939– )

German tenor. Born Neumann, he adopted the name of his teacher, Rudolf Laubenthal. In 1967 he made his debut, in Würzburg, as Ottavio and worked at the Stuttgart Staatsoper from 1968 and the Deutsche Oper, Berlin from 1973. He sang Belmonte at Glyndebourne in 1972 and guested at Aix, Salzburg, and Munich as Lensky, Tamino, Palestrina and Florestan. He is well known for his performances of sacred music by Bach.
