Laugharne

Village at the mouth of the River Taf, Carmarthenshire, Wales; population (2001) 2,950. The Boathouse, the home of the poet Dylan Thomas, is here, as is his grave, at the 14th-century church of St Martin. The village features in his work ‘Under Milk Wood’.

Laugharne Castle, now in ruins, was built around 1300 on the site of an earlier castle built in the 12th-century. There is also the remains of a 15th-century church.
