Laurens

City and administrative headquarters of Laurens County, northwestern South Carolina, on the Little River, 53 km/33 mi southeast of Greenville; population (1990) 9,700. Its products include carpets, roller bearings, ceramics, glass, and textiles.

It was settled before the American Revolution by people of Scotch-Irish ancestry.
