Lavery, John (1856–1941)

Irish portrait-painter of Edwardian society. He studied in Glasgow, London, and Paris and was influenced by the Impressionists and Whistler. He was knighted in 1918.

Born in Belfast, he studied in Glasgow, London, and Paris, and was associated with the Glasgow School.
