Lawton

City and administrative headquarters of Comanche County, southwest Oklahoma, USA, on Cache Creek, 125 km/78 mi southwest of Oklahoma City, population (2000) 92,800. Industries include processing the area's agricultural products, and the manufacture of cement, tyres, mobile homes, cosmetics, jewellery, and clothing. Lawton is the home of Cameron University (1909).

The site was first settled by American Indians in 1869 and incorporated as a city in 1901. Fort Sill, an army base first established in 1869, lies to the north.
