Layton

City in northern Utah, 16 km/10 mi south of Ogden, in the irrigated agricultural Weber Basin; population (2000) 58,500. Its industries have processed flour, lumber, sugar beet, potatoes, and animal feed. It experienced rapid growth in the 1970s and 1980s and there are now many office complexes, light manufacturing plants, and new housing units.
