Le Flem, Paul (1881–1984)

French composer and critic. He was professor at the Schola Cantorum, Paris, chorus master at the Opéra-Comique, conductor of the Chanteurs de Saint-Gervais, and critic for Comoedia.

His teachers included Vincent d'Indy and Albert Roussel at the Schola Cantorum.

Works

Stage

operas Le Rossignol de Saint-Malo (1942) and Dahut; choreographic drama on Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Choral

cantata Aucassin et Nicolette (1908) and other choral music.

Orchestral and chamber

four symphonies (1908–78), Triptyque symphonique for orchestra, fantasy for piano and orchestra; chamber music; violin and piano sonata, piano works.
