Le Roux, François (1955– )

French baritone. He studied at the Paris Opéra Studio and sang with Opéra Lyon 1980–85, as Mozart's Don Giovanni, Papageno, and Count. He is particularly associated with the role of Pelléas, which he recorded with Abbado and sang in Paris in 1985, at La Scala, Milan in 1986, in Vienna in 1988, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1993. His Glyndebourne debut in 1987 was as Ramiro in L'Heure espagnole, and he appeared at the Royal Opera House, from 1988 as Lescaut in Manon, Papageno, Malatesta, and the title role in the premiere of Birtwistle's Gawain (1991).
