Le Touquet

Le Touquet

Seaside resort in northern France, at the mouth of the River Canche, in the départment of Pas-de-Calais, 220 km/137 mi north of Paris; population (1999 est) 5,300. It was developed as a resort in the late 19th century by Alphonse Daloz, who acquired the land in 1837, and was particularly fashionable in the 1920s and 1930s. The town is noted for its architectural variety.

Pillet was addressing a recent conference of the International Communications Forum in Le Touquet, France.
What with the fuss about branding and the nuances of aristocratic style, I walked away from the installation with a picture of the artist's dedication to the portrayal of five-star luxury, and that leaves me momentarily wondering about Dodge's own relationship to the designer demimonde of Le Touquet that he so adoringly brings into view.
