LeBlanc, Matt

    0.01 sec.

LeBlanc, Matt(hew) (1967– )

US actor. He became known for his role as the clueless, loveable ladies' man and aspiring actor Joey Tribbiani in the hit television comedy series Friends (1994–2004). After the series ended he starred in his own spin-off series, Joey (2004– ), produced by Friends co-star David Schwimmer.

He has had less success in his film career, with critically panned films such as Ed (1996), Lookin' Italian (1998), Lost in Space (1998), and All the Queen's Men (2001), though he fared better with small roles in Charlie's Angels (2000) and its sequel Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003).

He was born and grew up in Newton, a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, where he developed a passion for motorcycles and trained to be a carpenter. After graduating from high school, however, he moved to New York City and began modelling. He appeared in a television commercial for Heinz ketchup which won the Gold Lion Award at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival, as well as in commercials for Levi's, Coca-Cola, and Doritos. He later moved to Los Angeles, California, to take a role in the short-lived series TV 101, and followed with the similarly short-lived Top of the Heap and Vinny and Bobby.
