LeWitt, Sol

LeWitt, Sol (1928–2007)

US sculptor and conceptual artist. He became known for his serial compositions, wall paintings, and conceptual sculptures, as in Untitled Cube (1968).

LeWitt was born in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended Syracuse University, New York, and had his first solo exhibition at the John Daniels Gallery, New York, in 1965. He subsequently taught at many institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art School (1964–67).
