Leadhills

Village in South Lanarkshire unitary authority, Scotland, 40 km/25 mi south of Lanark. Hidden among the Lowther Hills, 412 m/1,352 ft above sea level, it is one of the highest settlements in Scotland. Its leadmines, worked since the early 17th century, were closed in 1939.

a 2 ft (610 mm) gauge railway in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, is laid on the trackbed of the former Leadhills and Wanlockhead Branch of the Caledonian Railway which led off the main line between Carlisle and Glasgow at Elvanfoot.
Lanark Sheriff Court heard that Dunbar, of Leadhills, Lanarkshire, had been left 'traumatised' since the animals were taken from her.
Carluke as well as the historic towns of Biggar, Douglas and Leadhills.
