Lebrun, (Fede)Rico (1900–1964)

Italian-born US painter. In his later work he became known for his surrealistic, often morbid subject matter, as seen in his mural, Genesis (1960), located at Pomona College in Claremont, California. Lebrun was born in Naples, Italy, and emigrated to Illinois in 1924. Originally a stained glass designer, by 1938 he had settled in California and started to work for the Walt Disney Studios as an animator in 1939.
