Lee, Christopher Frank Carandini (1922– )

English film actor. His gaunt figure was memorable in the title role of Dracula (1958) and several of its sequels. He has not lost his sinister image in subsequent Hollywood productions. His numerous other films include Hamlet (1948), The Mummy (1959), Julius Caesar (1970), The Wicker Man (1973), and The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). Lee's career was given a new boost in the early 2000s by his appearances in two blockbuster film franchises: The Lord of the Rings (2001 and 2002) and Star Wars (2002 and 2005). He was made a CBE in 2001.
