Lee's Summit

City in northwestern Missouri, 29 km/18 mi southeast of central Kansas City; population (1990) 46,400. A trucking centre near major interstate highways, it manufactures and ships machinery, tools, plastics, electronic equipment, and meat and dairy products.

The Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, to the southwest, is also important to its economy.
