Lefrak, Samuel J(ayson) (1918– )

US property developer. He joined his father's Brooklyn construction firm, expanding the Lefrak Organization through the construction of such major housing, industrial, and commercial developments as King's Bay Houses, Brooklyn (1957), Lefrak City, Queens (1960), and later urban renewal projects. He was made president of the company in 1948 and chairman in 1975. The owner of 94,000 New York apartments, he was long the city's largest private residential landlord. Lefrak was born in New York City.
