Leigh-Mallory, Trafford Leigh (1892–1944)

British air chief marshal in World War II. He took part in the Battle of Britain and was commander-in-chief of Allied air forces during the invasion of France.

He ensured complete Allied air superiority during the invasion and his plan to destroy German road and rail links was crucial in isolating most of the German defence forces. KCB 1943.
