Leighton Buzzard

Market town in Bedfordshire, England, 64 km/40 mi northwest of London. The principal industries are sand quarrying and tilemaking; there is also clothing manufacture and light engineering. Leighton Buzzard has a market cross and a fine Early English cruciform church (built in the shape of a cross).

Born in London but raised in the town of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, she studied conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, and in 1993 won a dance-conducting competition run by The Royal Ballet.
