Lemnitz, Tiana (1897–1994)

German soprano. She studied in Metz and then at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt. She made her debut in 1921 and sang at Aachen 1922–29. From 1929 to 1933 she was the leading soprano at Hanover and worked subsequently at the Berlin Staatsoper until 1957, where her roles included Mimi, Aida, Desdemona, Sieglinde, and Jenůfa. She sang at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1936 and 1938, as Eva, Octavian, and Pamina.
