Leninogorsk

City in East Kazakhstan oblast (region) of Kazakhstan, 80 km/50 mi northeast of Öskemen; Lead, zinc, copper, and rare metals have been mined here since 1786; smelting of lead and rare metals also takes place here; population (2001 est) 68,000.
