Lenoir

City and administrative headquarters of Caldwell County, western North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 26 km/16 mi northwest of Hickory, on Lower Creek; population (1990) 14,200. In an agricultural and lumber-producing region, it manufactures furniture, textiles, and hosiery; it is also a summer resort.
