Lepcha

Member of a people living in northeastern India and Bhutan. They were possibly the original inhabitants of Sikkim, now a state of India. Traditionally they lived by hunting and gathering; today they also farm, raise cattle, and some are employed in towns. Their religion is a mixture of Lamaism, pre-Buddhist spirit beliefs, and shamanism.
