blewit

Edible fungus belonging to the class Basidiomycetes, found in the autumn. Lepista saeva, with a greyish cap and thick, violet-stained stem, is a pasture species; the wood blewit L. nuda is a clear bluish lilac when young, the cap and gills later becoming reddish.

Initially, I thought they were lepista nuda (wood blewits) but, having had them tested, I now know that they were psilocybe semilanceata (magic mushrooms), which would account for the notes I scribbled at the time: "My cat is turning into a roll of Sellotape .
