Leschetizky, Theodor (1830–1915)

Polish-Austrian pianist, teacher and composer. A pupil of Czerny and Sechter in Vienna, he was professor of piano at the St Petersburg Conservatory 1852–78. Subsequently he settled in Vienna as an independent teacher, and his many famous pupils included Paderewski.

Works

opera Die erste Falte (produced Prague 1867); many piano pieces.
