Leschetizky, Theodor (1830-1915)

Polish-Austrian pianist, teacher and composer. A pupil of Czerny and Sechter in Vienna, he was professor of piano at the St Petersburg Conservatory 1852-78. Subsequently he settled in Vienna as an independent teacher, and his many famous pupils included Paderewski.

Works

opera Die erste Falte (produced Prague 1867); many piano pieces.
