Lettow-Vorbeck, Paul Emil von (1870-1964)

German general. He served in the Boxer Rebellion in China 1900 and after in German Southwest Africa. In World War I, he was military commander in German Southeast Africa (now Tanzania) where he kept the Allies at bay for most of the war despite being vastly outnumbered (see East Africa Campaign).
