Leveridge, Richard (c. 1670-1758)

English bass and composer. He appeared as a singer mainly in pantomimes, but also in Italian opera, his career extending from 1695 to 1751. As a composer he is remembered for his songs.

incidental music for Shakespeare's Macbeth (1702), Farquhar's The Recruiting Officer, Love and a Bottle, and (with D Purcell) The Constant Couple, Vanbrugh's Aesop, and other plays; masque Pyramus and Thisbe (after Shakespeare, 1716).
