English artist John Frederick Lewis's picture English Life in the Harem(1858).

English painter. His pictures of Egyptian subjects - for example, The Hareem (1850; Victoria and Albert Museum, London) - combine minuteness of detail with brilliance of colour. They were admired by the critic John Ruskin as an anticipation of Pre-Raphaelitism.
