Lewisville

City in northeastern Texas, 34 km/21 mi northwest of central Dallas, on Lewisville Lake; population (1990) 46,500. It is a residential suburb with some manufacturing, including electronics, boats, toys, and aluminium products. The lake is an important recreational asset for the area.

Lewisville was settled in 1844 and became an agricultural trade centre. Since 1960 it has doubled in population every decade.
